Deaneries/UoAs
In 2012, all deaneries/UoAs in England & Wales will be taking part in coordinated ST3 recruitment. In addition, Northern Ireland will also be participating in coordinated recruitment to ST3 posts in the specialty of palliative medicine.
There is a page in this section for each of these deaneries/UoAs, containing information about the region, the ST3 programmes therein and any other information which may be of use.

Merged UoAs, over-arching rotations
As noted elsewhere, recruitment to ST3 posts is handled by regional bodies referred to as 'units of application'. For the most part, these are equivalent to the UK's regional deaneries, the bodies responsible for training in each region, as listed above.
However, in a number of cases, a unit of application within a specialty will be larger or smaller than the deanery/ies in its region. For instance, in most cases the East Midlands Deanery is divided into 'North' and 'South' for recruitment purposes, as above.
In many cases, the particular rotations within a specialty may 'over-arch' across different deaneries, due to the number of training posts available; so for example, within a specialty, post rotations may include the London and KSS Deaneries, and thus 'London/KSS' in that case will be treated as a single UoA.
Each of the deanery/UoA pages above will give information on any cases where that deanery/UoA over-arches with another; similarly, each of the specialties and post information sections of this website will also give information on where deaneries/UoAs over-arch within.
