Royal College of Physicians recruitment to core medical training 2011

Kent, Surrey & Sussex

In 2008, the Kent, Surrey & Sussex (KSS) School of Medicine was rated as 'excellent' and the second-best in England by the Postgraduate Medical Education & Training Board (PMETB, now GMC).

We have several trusts providing both core and higher medical training and one medical school within the region - Brighton and Sussex Medical School - which is a partnership between the universities of Brighton and Sussex.

We are currently responsible for trainees in CMT (including both military and academic posts).

In 2012 KSS Deanery will be recruiting as a unit of application (UoA).

KSS will operate specialty training programmes as a UoA in the following specialties:

  • acute medicine
  • cardiovascular medicine
  • dermatology
  • endocrinology & diabetes
  • gastroenterology
  • geriatric medicine
  • genitourinary medicine
  • infectious diseases (medical microbiology, virology)
  • neurology
  • renal medicine
  • respiratory medicine
  • rheumatology
  • stroke medicine.

Trainees in all specialties may rotate into London trusts as part of their training programme.

A key feature of many medical higher specialty training programmes run by KSS is that the training opportunities will provide trainees with dual accreditation in both their chosen specialty and in general (internal) medicine (GIM), thus producing highly-qualified and very competitive CCT holders to support the exciting evolution of medicine.
