Royal College of Physicians recruitment to core medical training 2011

Post numbers

As information becomes available on which deaneries/UoAs will be seeking to recruit trainees to vacant posts - either to substantive, NTN posts or locum training (LAT) posts - we will add this information to the tables below, along with the dates these deaneries/UoAs have scheduled to hold interviews.

Please click on the heading of the relevant specialty below to reveal the number of post vacancies available in participating deaneries/UoAs in this round.

Information subject to change

We must stress at this stage that post numbers are still being determined and the information in the tables below is provisional only and subject to change. We will update this as regularly as is possible, and will make any changes clear as necessary. Please note that any deaneries that have specialties marked as n/a means that deanery is not recruiting in round 1 for that particular specialty.

Non-participating deaneries/UoAs and 'tbc'

In some cases, a deanery/UoA may have no vacant posts within a specialty, and as such will not be participating; we will make this clear above the post numbers table for each specialty.

Where post numbers are noted as 'tbc', this denotes that the deanery/UoA has not been able to confirm vacancy details at this point, nor possibly their participation in recruitment to the specialty.

Deanery 'clusters'

In 2012, England & Wales deaneries will be acting in 'clusters' for the purposes of recruitment to rheumatology. That is, in each region of England/Wales, neighbouring deaneries will merge and pool resources to form a single UoA, in which all posts within the constituent deaneries are included.

At interview, candidates will be given the opportunity to give preferences of all available posts within the overall UoA cluster.

So for example: all candidates wishing to apply to the Northern, East Midlands and/or Yorkshire & Humber deaneries will submit applications to the 'Northern' UoA; all candidates successfully short-listed for interview will then attend interviews held at and managed by Northern Deanery, on behalf of all three deaneries within the cluster.

In the table below, deaneries have been grouped into the UoA 'clusters' to which candidates will apply. The deanery leading in each UoA has been placed at the top in bold.

Please see the rheumatology specialty page of this website for more information.
