Please note - it is not necessary to register with the application system before it is made live, nor will it be possible. Registration will need only be done once, and it should take around five minutes in total.

Once the application system is live, click on the application form link (available on the homepage of this website from 2 March onwards), then click 'New Candidate'.

You will be asked to give your name (including title) and email address, as well as selecting a password. The email address must be one that you check regularly, as it is this that deaneries and our office here will use to contact you during the recruitment process. This will also act as your 'username' - that is, you will have to give this each time you want to log back in.

Password

The password you choose must be at least six characters in length, and must contain at least one letter and one number. It is not necessary to use a mixture of upper- and lower-case letters, although doing this will significantly improve the 'strength' of your password.

Next you will be asked to give details of your GMC status, as all candidates need to be registered with and licensed by the GMC before they can take up a post - although provided that you are eligible for both, you do not need to be registered & licensed at the time of applying.

You will be asked to select your current state of GMC registration. If you select 'Full', 'Provisional' or 'Eligible', you will be asked to give your GMC registration number; in the latter two cases, you will also be asked to give some further information relating to your future registration. If you select 'None', you will be asked to complete a textbox to explain how you are eligible for an ST3 post.

You will then need to select whether or not you currently hold a GMC licence to practise.

For more information on GMC registration, please see the relevant section of our eligibility criteria page.

Here you will be asked to select the specialty to which you wish to apply. Once you have selected this from the drop-down list, you will be asked to select the deanery/UoA to which you wish to apply - this will again be from a drop-down list of all deaneries/UoAs which have vacant posts in the recruitment process.

Please note that you will be able to amend these selections at a later date if need be.

Once you have completed the above steps, click 'Submit' to complete the registration process.

You will only need to register once, regardless of how many applications you wish to make.

To begin a new application, click on the 'New application' link from the home screen. The same details used to register on the first occasion will be used again here; with the exception of your specialty/deanery choice.

Whether or not you are able to make additional applications to a particular specialty will depend upon the recruitment model being used within that specialty. See the recruitment models page of this website for more information.
